Where It Began
Sometimes the simplest ideas become the ones that leave the biggest impact.
The Birthday Project began with one question: What if a birthday cake could remind someone they are seen, valued, and loved?
After learning that many families facing financial hardship simply can't afford to celebrate birthdays, I felt God stirring my heart to do something practical. What started as a single idea quickly grew into a complete birthday celebration kit designed to bring joy to children and adults alike.
Every kit is assembled by hand, prayed over, and given with one simple message:
Everyone deserves a birthday.

01
Gathering the Supplies
Every great project begins with a first step.
Before a single Birthday Project kit could be assembled, the supplies had to be gathered. Over two weeks, boxes arrived at the front door, shopping trips were made, and each item was carefully chosen—from cake mix and frosting to balloons, candles, whisks, spatulas, and baking pans.
By God's provision and the generosity of those who supported this vision, everything slowly came together. What began as a simple idea was becoming something tangible, one package at a time.
02
Preparing for Assembly
With every supply now in hand, the next step was getting everything organized. Boxes were opened, supplies were sorted, and every item was counted to make sure there would be enough for all twenty-four kits.
Taking the time to prepare before assembling the kits made the process smoother and ensured that every birthday celebration would include the same thoughtful items. It was another reminder that even the smallest acts of planning can become part of something much bigger when they are done with purpose.

03
Everything Comes Together
With every supply unpacked and organized, the vision could finally be seen in one place. Looking across the bed, it was the first time every piece of The Birthday Project came together—cake mix, frosting, balloons, candles, sprinkles, baking tools, birthday cards, and pans—all waiting to become twenty-four complete birthday celebration kits.
What had started as an idea, a prayer, and countless small purchases had grown into something real. Standing back and seeing everything together was a reminder of God's faithfulness and of how He often builds something meaningful one step at a time.
04
Laying the Foundation
With everything prepared, it was finally time to begin.
Twenty-four empty pans were laid out across the bed, each one representing a future birthday celebration. At this stage, they were simply empty containers, but before long each would be filled with everything needed to bake a cake and celebrate a special day.
Sometimes the most meaningful work begins with an empty space and a willing heart. Before the first item was placed into each pan, I paused to remember why this project mattered—not because of what was being assembled, but because of the people who would one day receive it.

05
The First Ingredients
One by one, the empty pans began to fill. The cake mix was placed inside, followed by a can of pop—a simple but creative way to make a birthday cake using just two ingredients. This method helps keep the kits affordable while providing everything needed to bake a delicious cake at home.
With each pan completed, the vision became a little more real. What had been rows of empty containers were slowly transforming into birthday celebration kits that would soon find their way into the hands of families throughout our community.
06
More Than Just a Cake
Every item placed inside the pan served a purpose. Along with the cake mix, frosting, and pop, each kit included balloons, candles, sprinkles, and a birthday card—small touches that transform baking a cake into celebrating a birthday.
The goal was never simply to provide ingredients. It was to give families the opportunity to pause, celebrate, and create a memory together. Every detail was chosen with the hope that someone would feel seen, valued, and remembered on their special day.

07
Equipping Every Celebration
With the baking essentials already in place, it was time to add the finishing tools. Each kit received a whisk and silicone spatula so families would have what they needed to mix the batter and decorate the finished cake.
I wanted these kits to be as complete and practical as possible. My hope was that opening one would bring relief instead of questions—providing not just the ingredients, but the simple tools needed to turn them into a birthday worth celebrating.
08
One Complete Birthday Kit
After every item had been carefully placed inside, the first complete Birthday Project kit was finished. What had started as a collection of individual supplies had become a practical gift designed to help a family celebrate a birthday together.
Inside each kit was everything needed to create a memorable celebration: cake mix, frosting, a can of pop, sprinkles, balloons, candles, a whisk, a silicone spatula, and a birthday card. Every kit was assembled with care, with the hope that it would bring joy, encouragement, and remind someone that they are deeply valued.

09
Ready to Celebrate
With every item in place, the lids were closed and the instruction cards secured on top. Each Birthday Project kit was now complete and ready to be delivered to a family who could enjoy a birthday celebration of their own.
Looking across the finished kits was both humbling and exciting. What had once been a simple idea had become twenty-four tangible reminders that every person deserves to be celebrated. It was a moment of gratitude for God's provision and a quiet reminder that even small acts of kindness can have a lasting impact.
10
A Birthday in a Box
Every kit was designed to be simple, practical, and complete. Inside were the ingredients and supplies needed to bake a birthday cake using the "cake mix and pop" method, along with frosting, sprinkles, candles, balloons, a birthday card, and the tools needed to prepare everything from start to finish.
The instruction sheet on top wasn't just there to explain how to make the cake. It also carried a message of encouragement and reminded each recipient that they are seen, valued, loved, and worth celebrating. More than a box of supplies, each kit was created to communicate hope.

11
Ready for Delivery
With every kit assembled, labeled, and prayed over, the final step was loading them into the vehicle for delivery. Seeing all twenty-four kits lined up together was a reminder of how God had taken one small idea and multiplied it into something that could touch many lives.
Each box represented more than cake and decorations. It represented a family that would be reminded they were not forgotten, a child or adult who would have something to celebrate, and another opportunity to show the love of Christ in a practical way.
12
Delivering Hope
The moment finally arrived. After weeks of planning, shopping, assembling, and praying, the Birthday Project reached its first destination. Together, we unloaded each kit, knowing they would soon find their way into the hands of families throughout our community.
This wasn't simply a delivery of birthday supplies. It was the beginning of something much bigger—a reminder that kindness can be practical, compassion can be tangible, and even a simple birthday cake can remind someone that they are loved, seen, and worth celebrating.

13
A Community Effort
What began with one idea was made possible through the kindness of many people. The food bank welcomed The Birthday Project with open arms, and together we celebrated the completion of the very first delivery of 24 birthday kits.
This photo represents more than a handoff. It reflects a shared desire to care for our community and to remind families that they are not forgotten. Every act of generosity—whether donating, assembling, delivering, or receiving—became part of something bigger than any one person could accomplish alone.
14
This Is Only the Beginning
The first 24 Birthday Project kits have now found their way into the hands of the local food bank, ready to bring a little joy to families celebrating birthdays during difficult seasons.
While this first delivery marks an important milestone, it is only the beginning of the vision God placed on my heart.
My prayer is that The Birthday Project will continue to grow—one birthday, one family, and one act of kindness at a time. As God provides, more kits will be assembled, more communities will be reached, and more people will be reminded of one simple truth:
Everyone deserves a birthday.
